(4-1) The Service of Deleting the Registry of a National Ship

MAA offers the service of Deletion of registered ships, in accordance with the Maritime Law no 15 of 1994 and its relevant bylaws and directives. Applications can be brought to MAA Sana’a headquarters and its branch offices, subject to the relevant conditions and procedures. Here are the relevant conditions and procedures

First : Conditions:

  1. A ship must be reregistered at MAA records under the Yemeni Flag,
  2. The consent of the mortgagee, in case of a mortgaged ship,
  3. A ship which her owner is aiming at changing the Yemeni flag,
  4. When there are grounds for deleting ship registration, such as: shipwreck, ship loss of the Yemeni nationality or when exist a final court order judgment is passed.
  5. No inhibitor should exist to the deletion of the ship.

Second: Procedures:       

  1. An application for deleting the registration (according to the attached form) should be filled, signed and stamped by the owner. The owner should describe the reasons for deletion.
  2. The application should be made to MAA within thirty days of the existence of the deletion reasons.
  3. The applicant should attach the original registration certificate, ship’s navigation license, and all other certificates issued for the ship by MAA, in addition to the documents in support of deletion of the ship.
  4. The applicant should brought an official letter from the mortgagee, in case of a mortgaged ship, indicating the release of the mortgage or indicating no objection from his side to the deletion of the ship.
  5. Upon checking the application and the documents included by MAA personnel and after receiving the stated fees, the process of deleting the ship from the record will take place and the owner would be asked to deliver the original registration certificate.
  6. A Deletion certificate is then issued to the owner upon the cancellation of the ship’s call sign.

Fourth: Time set for Issuing the deletion Certificate

The service is provided within 24 hours following the completion of the procedures.
